Threshold Exclusive: First in Simulator Previews of Airfield Canada’s Halifax Stanfield Airport

Since the release of their J.A. Douglas McCurdy Sydney Airport in early January this year, Airfield Canada has been working on their latest airport for X-Plane, Halifax Stanfield.

Both airports are located in the Canadian province of Nova Scotia, with Halifax Stanfield being the 8th busiest airport in Canada. In 2019, Halifax handled over 4.19 million passengers and is a hub for airlines such as Air Canada Express.

No feature list has been released from the developer so far, but the developer did mention they believe it will be the most detailed representation of Halifax Stanfield for any flight simulation platform.

Airfield Canada has shared exclusive previews of the first in simulator previews of the airport, including a look at the areas around the terminal and Air Canada Hangar.

Airfield Canada has also given Threshold some exclusive information regarding the overall progression of the project.

The developer wrote:

“We [...] are even in contact with airport employees on a regular basis. Some outstanding tasks include SAM animations (jetways, hangar doors, etc).”

It was also stated that progress is moving at a steady pace, with half of the development team currently working on 3D modelling for the airport and the other half working in other areas.

Additionally, it was said that, although not a firm plan, the developer is discussing the possibility of making Halifax available for other flight simulator platforms, after the release for X-Plane.

Airfield Canada can be followed on Facebook to be kept up to date with all progress on their project.

The developer’s previous scenery, J.A. Douglas McCurdy Sydney Airport, can be purchased from the Threshold store for $17.
