Aeroplane Heaven Releases P-51 Mustang for Microsoft Flight Simulator

The folks over at Aeroplane Heaven have released their rendition of the P-51 Mustang for Microsoft Flight Simulator, Bringing the classic WW2 fighter up to speed in the world of simulation.

The P-51 Mustang was developed by North American Aviation in 1940. The fighter was used in both World War 2 and the Korean War. During WW2, the fighter was mainly used by the U.S. Army Air Corps, to combat the Japanese in the Pacific front of the war, and was used on the European front as well. When used in Europe by the RAF, the aircraft was fitted with the Rolls Royce Merlin engine, allowing the aircraft to reach 15,000ft. without sacrificing range, combating the Luftwaffe’s forces. In the Pacific, the P-51D variant was outfitted with the Packard V-1650-7 engine, and armed with Browning AN/M2 machine guns. In the Korean War, the fighter was mainly used by the USAF until jet fighters became prevalent.

This aircraft includes a wide variety of features out of the box highlighting 16 liveries made by the developers, starring 13 WW2 liveries, and 3 civilian registered liveries. Modeling for both gun bays and gear wells have been crafted with the included exquisite interior and exterior modeling.
