Orbx Releases Alaska Mesh for Microsoft Flight Simulator

Six days ago, Orbx announced their Alaska Mesh addon for Microsoft Flight Simulator - and recently released it, other than the astonishing development time (most done in the background), Orbx has packed their addon with plenty of fine details and many anticipated additions.

Orbx went into detail about how the technique was used for the mesh, citing it was sourced from the “best available” US Government elevation data for Alaska - also mentioning the same technique was used in their New Zealand Mesh and freeware Iceland Mesh.

A quaint feature list was also provided by the team ranging from minimal performance impacts to high-resolution 5m DEM data, but we will provide the full list;

  • Compiled to reduce LOD morphing
  • Self-contained product
  • High-resolution 5m DEM data
  • Minimal performance impact

The developers added that you will need 6.23GB for the addon.

The addon can be bought on OrbxDirect for $9.36 USD alongside more screenshots.

A huge thanks to Agge in the Threshold Discord Server for the Scoop!
