Windsock Simulations Announce Madrid-Barajas for X-Plane 11

Developer Windsock Simulations, known for their scenery conversions, have announced Madrid-Barajas Adolfo Suárez Airport for X-Plane 11. Announced through a Facebook post, the team said that they are starting the conversion work on the 1st of September. As well as that, Windsock Simulations have partnered with Maps2XPlane in order to get the airport terrain mesh correct.

No pricing or planned release date have been disclosed as of now, but the developer has said that “We expect it to be a project that will take quite a while as this is by far 3 times bigger than any airport we have released.” In the same post, Windsock Simulations have said that an update to their Barcelona scenery is coming soon.

In addition, the developers has promised routine progress updates, with regular photo uploads of the airport, but only when they seem ready for “public consumption”. The updates will be posted to their Facebook page.

Madrid-Barajas Adolfo Suárez Airport (MAD, LEMD) is the main airport serving Madrid, the capital city of Spain. As well as that, it holds the title of the 11th busiest airport in the world and is the largest airport in the Iberian Peninsula. Its four runways see many airlines, such as British Airways, Lufthansa and EasyJet. It also serves as the hub for Iberia. With four terminals, it’s no wonder that an average of 50 million people pass through each year.
