FlyingIron Simulations Unveils Plans Surrounding Simulators and Aircraft

Late last week, FlyingIron Simulations issued details on their plans for the future on the development for existing and future simulators and projects.

The developer, best known for their warbirds, aims to be as transparent as possible with customers and development, and today's post only proves how true this statement is.

New details on the P-38 Lightning and F-117 for X-Plane 11 joined DCS World details, as well as a brief paragraph on Microsoft Flight Simulator.

The A7E Corsair II was first on the list, a DCS World-only project at this time. FlyingIron did highlight in this section, however, that their Artist has been very much been occupied with work on the P-38L for X-Plane 11.

Further down the page, the developer said the P-38L is "almost complete"; despite being unable to offer a release date, the developer reassured prospective customers that beta testing would begin before the end of this month.

"As of right now development is wrapping up with Livery creation, Particle FX creation and tuning (including new tyre, dust & skid FX), 3D Sound placement & Distance tuning and finishing off VR integration," wrote FlyingIron. "The User Manual is also in development now, and will be made publicly available on or just before the release date."

The P-38L was announced in early May and FlyingIron wanted to have the aircraft out by mid-July as a previous blog post stated, but this has not been the case, of course.

Adding on to X-Plane 11 development, the developer outlines: "After the release of the P-38 Lightning, we will be slowing our X-plane work for a period in order to prioritise development of the A7; therefore we are not expecting to release any new X-plane modules in the next few months.

"We will however be releasing updates for our current modules, in order to bring them up to the standard of the P-38L and incorporate our latest simulation methods."

Should the team decide to start work on another project for X-Plane 11, it will likely be that of their F-117 Nighthawk, which has previously been shown to be in the thick of systems development.

"We feel that our development skills have come a long way since beginning the project, to the point where we feel comfortable we can create a high-fidelity simulation of the F-117 that meets our growing quality & realism standards. This will be a long-term and complex project; you can expect to find out more about the project towards the end of 2020."

The final word was about Microsoft Flight Simulator. Whilst they have not yet made their decision official, the developer intends to develop for the simulator in the future, though further details will only be available later in the year.
