Fenix Simulations Updates A320 Lineup for MSFS 2020/2024

Fenix Simulations has issued a hotfix for their newly released “Big Fenix Update” for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and 2024. The update brings improvements to the VRAM usage in MSFS 24, multiple fixes, and more.

Update 2.4.0.2070 is the first update since the advent of the Big Fenix Update, which was their biggest patch to date, with over half a petabyte of download traffic (including livery downloads). The hotfix aims to lower the VRAM usage in 2024 by a significant margin, allowing a bit of breathing room so that stutters don’t happen.

Furthermore, the update resolves several CTDs and freezes, brings multiple sound fixes reported by the community, improves differential braking, improves overall stability, adjusts cabin and cockpit wind, and more. The complete changelog follows below:

Avionics and Systems

  • Added support for BeyondATC CPDLC service
  • Improved differential braking
  • Improved rendering pipeline and stability fixes
  • Fixed offsets entry/exits, general offsets overhaul
  • Fixed MCDU input error messages clearing the scratchpad
  • Fixed intercell transfer valves not closed when refuelling after they have been opened
  • Fixed power refuel bus when not on ground
  • Possible fix to direct law after takeoff

Art and Sound

  • [2024] VRAM reduction by up to 1.5GB (especially on medium or low graphics settings)

  • General rework of all volume levels across BFU to boost combined output levels back to .553 (more sound improvements to come in later patches)

  • Fixed CFM buzzsaw high-pass/wrong tonality
  • Fixed missing sounds under some conditions (if the soundbuffer is overwhelmed there will still be a chance of missing audio)
  • Fixed A319 custom cabins not working
  • Fixed right side engine exhaust effect placed incorrectly

EFB

  • Fixed potential errors when processing PDFs
  • Fixed potential issue with EFB brightness being saved with very low values

Launcher

  • Display options are renamed to reflect their appropriate use. USE ALTERNATIVE DISPLAY RENDERER → USE DISPLAY SAFE MODE. PREFER CPU RENDERING → FORCE SAFE MODE CPU RENDERING
  • One time reset of display options to recommended defaults
