Gaya Simulations' Kos To Be Published Under Orbx & New Details

Gaya Simulations' anticipated Kos Island scenery will be published by Orbx, the company has announced. This adds the scenery developer to Orbx's growing list of partners, as the brand expands from developer to publisher under its OrbxDirect platform. Previously, Military Visualisations and Parallel42 (formerly OldProp) joined the program as aircraft and utility partners respectively.

In a post on the Orbx Forum, the developers announced a that Kos, a scenery which received significant attention following a Christmas giveaway, will be published on Orbx's platform, much like Courchevel and Meribel from 2019.

The post raves at Gaya Simulations' experience in scenery design, highlighting detail as a point of interest for the group.

"Gaya Simulations' version of Kos, undertaken in 2019, aims to be the most faithful recreation of Kos to date in a flight simulator. Details are very important to the Gaya team, going as far as to animate the mosquitos buzzing around the airport lights.

"The developer has a long history of airports for X-Plane and Prepar3D, having made Orbx's Edinburgh and East Midlands sceneries, as well as the more recent Courchevel and Meribel recreations."

In addition, the team released a feature list and coverage map, which are attached below:

  • Comprehensive recreation of Kos Ippokratis Airport
  • Custom Greek autogen for the entire island
  • Terminal and control tower interiors
  • 2020 airport ground layout
  • Custom-made animated & accurate ground service vehicles specific to the airport
  • Hand-made recreation of Kastri Island in the Kefalos Bay
  • Dozen of custom points of interests around the island include resorts, churches, air turbines and more
  • Accurate trees and vegetation placement canvassing the entire island
  • Realistic night lighting
  • 4K texture resolution
  • Realistic sloped runway and airport elevation
  • Custom ground traffic around the island complete with Greek cars
  • Optimised for smooth performance on a variety of systems

The post concludes with a note about orthoimagery - airport photoreal textures are included, though for the surrounding island the team recommends downloading a tile provided on a third party site for free, available to all users - including those who haven't bought the scenery.
