Microsoft Flight Simulator July 23rd Update: VATSIM to be Available from Day One

The latest update from Microsoft and Flight Simulator went live yesterday with VATSIM the latest to feature in their Partnership Series Update, along with another dose of screenshots.

Written to the blog post and VATSIM's social media channels, it has been announced VATSIM is to be compatible with Flight Simulator as soon as the simulator goes live.

VATSIM needs no introduction; being a long-standing platform for more formal flights around the globe, users will be able to fly with others across multiple simulators.

The intention of day one support is a simple teaser, with no other details, press releases, or similar offered through official channels.

Several hours later however, VATSIM did announce two of their Board of Governors are retiring after two years of service. Aidan Stevens, Vice President - Technical Development and Zach Biesse-Fitton, Vice President - Web Services, are to pursue other roles in VATSIM.

"While Aidan and Zach's departures leave chairs to fill on the Board of Governors, our network development has never been stronger," according to a statement posted by the network to Twitter. "They have done a phenomenal job to organize great teams with strong leaders for all of our new technologies under development. These teams continue to work very hard every day and will continue to do so."

Back to the subject of Microsoft Flight Simulator, there wasn't much else that was new.

Closed beta invitations are being sent to users up to the 30th of July, the date the Closed Beta is to be released.

A new Feedback Snapshot was also released. It shows questions are still unanswered such as Campaign Mode/Missions/Progression and a Damage Mode, but highlights almost all the top issues in the Alpha builds have been improved. As for the top wish list, no items have been addressed other than 3rd Party Content/SDK, which is a work in progress at this time.
