Here’s a scenery that’s in no rush to work a path into your heart (and wallet). Orbx have now released the goods for all to experience, a taste of what’s to come from the future of Orbx in X-Plane. Their first X-Plane first release is City Airport, or Barton Aerodrome. Manchester City Airport and Heliport is situated just 5NM from Manchester city centre and is a busy and popular airfield for GA traffic visiting the area. It also contains many flight schools and is a hive of activity, frequently visited by the public, there’s also the occasional struggle to cope with waterlogging since the airport sits on the edge of Chat Moss. 

EGCB was announced as part of their X-Plane product plans a few weeks back, following their X-Plane debut with the release of Meigs Field and recently selling Bill Womack’s iBlueYonder sceneries. City Airport will be joined by the release of three more freeware airports under Orbx (see below)and of course, the much awaited Orbx EU England TrueEarth.

The airport, developed by the legendary Tony Wroblewski, has been created in painstaking detail for X-Plane 11 with the utmost attention to detail and accuracy based on hundreds of photos and several on-site visits to the airport. The airfield is depicted as it was in late 2017 and includes a large area of photoreal imagery and introduces Orbx’s new autogen technology being developed for X-Plane.
