PMDG’s 738NG for MSFS 2024 to Release on Thursday
PMDG has published another development update regarding their upcoming 737-800 upgrade for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, which will feature a comprehensive overhaul, including a new cabin, new cockpit textures, new sounds, and more.
The developers argue that their original 738 is a really old product in software terms (3.5 years old), and they had not yet fully understood the simulator’s potential at the time of release. 2024 has given them the opportunity to dive deeper into the potential offered by the new platform and bring it up to modern standards.
It’s said to be a significant overhaul of the 737 product line, wholly capitalizing on the sim’s capabilities: a new cockpit with new materials, lidar scanned models, new lighting, new surface textures; a new cabin, new interactable items around the airplane, customized door logic, operable cockpit windows, and a new 3D sound-set built by a professional sound engineering team whose lead sound engineer is also a type-rated 737 captain.
While there are still some cleanup details to finish around the external area, PMDG hopes to release it on Thursday (18/12), just before Christmas, so people can enjoy their Christmas break flying the brand-new product in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.
They have also listed a few FAQ such as price (in line with previous products), discount for previous owners (previous owners will in fact get a discount, both on marketplace and pmdg.com), discount across purchase venues (if you bought it on marketplace, it will be only applicable to marketplace, and so on), and the potential release date for the other 737s (-600 and -900 in January, and -700 in February).
