PMDG Outlines MSFS 737 Release Details

Popular aircraft developer PMDG has taken to their forums to delineate their new release strategy and pricing model for MSFS. While there's no further information relating to the release date or price, the team continues to make progress on the aircraft.

An important detail to mention regarding the series of aircraft is that PMDG currently faces a roadblock that hampers the team's ability to make significant progress on the plane, but no specific information was mentioned except that the team is attempting to get the issue resolved.

Randazzo shared a few new screenshots with the community, showcasing the BBJ and BCF in MSFS. Unsurprisingly, the BCF will come with accurate specifications and working cargo doors. It will also be released with the different winglet styles offered to operators in real life. The flight deck will be configured to match its real-life counterpart, presenting users with main deck cargo fire detection/indication and suppression systems and optional ground equipment options to complement the aircraft's operations.

The BBJ will also be accompanied by its own set of ground vehicles, tailoring to the VIP environment. Its cabin will also deliver a noticeable upgrade due to MSFS's ability to handle "increased texture overhead." The aircraft will also feature a mobile boarding stairs option for users to utilize if they so choose.

New Pricing and Release Information

PMDG is taking a new approach to its Pricing and Release strategies. In the past, the 737 product line would be available as a package, and users would be committed to purchasing multiple variants of the aircraft. Now, PMDG will sell each variant separately to lower the bar of entry for customers who desire to buy only one variant of the 737 to make the product line more approachable. Variants such as the 737-700 will be sold with its other configurations, the BBJ and BCF, in one package. The 737-800 will also come packaged with the 800BCF and BBJ.

While there's no current price point for the series of aircraft, the team continues to research its options.

Randazzo announced that the 737-700 would be the first body of aircraft to release, followed by the other variants with a six-week "lag time" between each release. He also insinuated that other variants of the aircraft, such as fire tankers and military derivatives of the 737 might be added to the product line later in development after the team releases its initial batch of the 737 series.
Finally, it's important to mention that Randazzo confirmed that NGXu customers will be able to use their MSFS 737 credit for future purchases. For those who haven't kept up with PMDG's recent development updates, you can take a peek here.
