Pearl Simulations Releases Charlotte-Douglas Airport for X-Plane

A relatively new name has popped into the .org store and it seems that this is their second release. Dubbed “Pearl Simulations”, their first product is a scenery of Hilo International Airport, located in Hawaii. The team has subsequently taken a trip to the other side of the US: North Carolina, for a rendition of Charlotte-Douglas International Airport.

The real airport is the 11th busiest airport in the US, serving over 50 million passengers annually, and is the largest airport in North Carolina. Opened in 1936, the airfield is known to be the main hub for American Airlines who occupies three concourses within the terminal complex, the airline sees over 700 flights out of the airport daily. A third runway is in the planning stage.

For the scenery itself, Pearl’s provided feature list is short, though it made mention that the team conducted a photo survey of the real airport to develop their scenery. The scenery is otherwise “run off the mill” with the incorporation of PBR and SAM Jetways. Groundwork is advertised to be made with 4K textures which are also authored in PBR, which builds upon a high resolution satellite imagery base. At night, users are greeted with “realistic night texturing and lighting”, lastly, “Mega-Airport”, yes.

Here is the original feature list:

  • Models: On-Site Modelling and Texturing of Charlotte-Douglas Airport with hundreds of buildings with PBR effects and thousands of objects
  • Ground: Accurate and realistic 4K Ground Texturing with PBR and wear and tear, high level of details
  • Jetways: SAM is included in package
  • Realistic Night Texturing and Lighting
  • High Res Orthophoto and Trees
  • Mega-Airport

Pearl Simulation’s Charlotte-Douglas Airport comes with an asking price of $24.99, for those who are interested in some intensive AA ops, head over to the product page for a copy.
