Orbx Releases Sogndal Airport for MSFS 2024

Orbx has recently released their rendition of Sogndal Airport (ENSG) for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, serving the homonymous municipality with a yearly average of 70,000 passengers.

The airport was opened in mid-1971, with a single, 800-meter-long runway and a small 70mx45m apron, which is only suitable for small regional airliners like the Twin Otter (one of the first to serve Sogndal with flights to Bergen and Alesund).

In the early 1980s, the construction of a fire station allowed the airport to accommodate more types of regional airliners, and Wideroe introduced their Dash 7s on the route to Oslo Fornebu. Two years later, a significantly larger terminal was built, and the tower underwent renovation work.

Ownership was transferred from the Municipality to Avinor on January 1st, 1997.

Between 2004 and 2007, Sogndal underwent several upgrades to its infrastructure, with expanded safety areas, lights, parking, a new arrival terminal, a navigation system, and more.

The scenery features an accurate rendition of the airport, with custom ground textures, full PBR 4K texturing, custom orthoimagery, realistic representation of the PLASI (Pulse Light Approach System), and more.

It’s available on OrbxDirect for roughly $12.03, requiring at least 1.57 GB of free hard disk space to install.
