Orbx Announces TrueEarth Florida Alongside Key West Airport

The latest state to be joining Orbx’s TrueEarth US series for X-Plane is that of Florida.

Another new technology to debut alongside TrueColour is a brand new building system which sees increased detail in the millions of placed buildings, along with improvements to overall performance.

TrueEarth US Florida is currently in beta testing and is aimed to be released mid-January. Also included will be an Orbx “cityscape” area for Miami, according to Orbx founder John Venema in the following announcement post:
“Exclusive to TrueEarth US Florida is our brand new Cityscape Miami which has been developed by Frank Schibben who brought you the stunning Honolulu and Melbourne cityscapes earlier this year.

“With one of the largest skylines in the US, Miami is home to a variety of breathtaking skyscrapers including the Panorama Tower, the Four Seasons Hotel and Miami Center. Miami is always a visual delight due to the scenic coastal beaches and vibrant buildings.

“If towering buildings aren’t your thing, then spend hours flying up and down the famous Miami Beach - the views during late evening sunsets is also something you should experience.”

Although cityscape Miami has yet to be shown, Threshold will ensure to keep you updated.

Alongside the release of TrueEarth US Florida was the announcement of a new airport for X-Plane 11: Key West International. The airport is situated on the island of Key West which is only 8 square miles in area, thus the airport is relatively large with its 5,076 ft long runway.

The airport is set to feature:

  • Ultra-high-resolution satellite imagery surrounding the airport
  • Plenty of detailed 3D models from terminal buildings to road signage
  • Includes surrounding buildings such as hotels and major landmarks
  • Fully PBR compliant for the most realistic looking models
  • Visually breathtaking approach along the coast
  • Several static aircraft bringing the airport to life
  • Seamlessly blends into the upcoming TrueEarth US Florida

Key West is due to release at the same time as TrueEarth US Florida. A bundle offer will be made available for customers wishing to buy the airport and TrueEarth product at the same time.
