Weekly News Recap: April 29

Introduction

Welcome to Threshold’s weekly news recap for today the 29th of April, 2018. We aim for this weekly piece to be a collection of all the news that we didn’t get to, as well as where we take a look back at all the headlines from the X-Plane world. The Threshold Weekly News Recap is released every Sunday.

In case you missed it:

JARDesign show off the first screenshots of the A340, Laminar Research lay out plans for the future of X-Plane at the Aero 2018 conference in Germany, FlyJSim show us some exclusive shots of the upcoming 727 v3, formerly P3D developer PILOT’S make the jump to X-Plane with LEAM Almeria, and Stairport Sceneries exclusively announce KDAB Daytona Beach on Threshold!

JARDesign hint at an update to the A320

After releasing a new set of screenshots showcasing their newest project, the A340,  JARDesign have made it clear that they aren’t done with earlier projects, in particular, the A320.

JAR have been relatively quiet about the progress on the A320 since the release of the competing FlightFactor model, perhaps rather focusing on the upcoming 340.

All is not lost for JAR320 owners though, as Andrey Belov, developer at JD has posted a preview screenshot of an upcoming update to the project. Posted in the comments section of our article about the A340, Andrey responded to questions about the future of the 320.

“If you do not know what we are doing with the 320 series, it does not mean that nothing happens”

Judging by the quality of these screenshots, one can only assume quite a large update is in the works. Keep up to date with this prospective update by joining the JARDesign Facebook group here.

AFM M20 collection updated to v2.2.1 (& v2.2.2!)

It has been about a month since the release of v2.1.0 of  AFM's M20 collection. The update added a new model, the M20TN Acclaim Type S.

V2.2.1, released on Tuesday, fixed a rudder issue on the new M20 Acclaim, along with a few bugs with the aircraft’s G1000 - here is a short changelog;

  • Fixed Rudder Animation on M20TN
  • Fixed issue where G1000 MFD doesn’t display on some computers
  • Baro and Course knob order fixed on G1000 Popups
  • Vacuum and Ammeter datarefs added for debugging and informational purposes.

However, a bug in the G1000 system of the M20 Ovation 3 forced the swift release of hotfix/version 2.2.2. The bug has been fixed, as well as some cockpit text found in the Acclaim has been adjusted.

Airfoillabs C172 update + announcement

The Virtual Reality craze has made its way to Airfoillabs now, as they have announced that their C172 will soon be receiving an update to bring full compatibility with VR. Announced on their Facebook page, AFL said that the update would coincide with the release of X-Plane 11.20.

That’s not all the Airfoillabs news this week either! In the same Facebook post, AFL have confirmed the development of a new aircraft, the Cessna 172 EVO with G1000. Here is what AFL had to say about their newest project;

“....we are developing new product C172 EVO G1000 with a new texturing, model etc. (the one on the pictures). We estimated that it could be finished at the end of this year.”

Here are a few preview shots that came along with the post.

SimCoders HeadShake updated to version 1.9.1

In smaller update news, SimCoders, creators of the Reality Expansion Pack series, have updated their freeware plugin Headshake to version 1.9.1.

The plugin simulates many view effects absent in X-Plane 11 such as proper ground-roll, taxi-view and touchdown effects. Unfortunately, no changelog has been released, however, you can download HeadShake here, or see the SimCoders Facebook page for more info.
