Weekly News Recap: July 15

Introduction

Welcome to Threshold’s weekly news recap for today the 15th of June, 2018. We aim for this weekly piece to be a collection of all the news that we didn’t get to, as well as where we take a look back at all the headlines from the X-Plane world. The Threshold Weekly News Recap is released every Sunday.

In case you missed it:

Aerosoft release Friedrichshafen airport (EDNY), JustSim release LTAI Antalya for X-Plane and Advanced Flight Modelling update their popular M20 Collection to version 3.

Airworthy Designs “Princess of the Caribbean” v1.5 to include new airport

Scenery developer Airworthy Designs have previewed version 1.5 of St. Marteen - the Princess of the Caribbean. The scenery was released in April and has only had one update so far; a 2K texture pack following the release.

Version 1.5 was announced via Facebook last week.

“Update 1.5 in progress! 34 fixes and whole new airport. Thanks for the support!!
“Safedock system now in place at TNCM”

JustFlight Hawk T1/A preview

Development on JustFlight’s Hawk T1/A trainer for X-Plane is nearing completion. The project originally announced in February and is an XP11-port of the fighter.

The T1/A has since been released to beta testers. Perhaps to tide us over until release, JF have released a video showing off the trainer on their Facebook page.

“The Hawk T1 features an exquisitely modelled exterior, with intricate details such as the landing gear which is animated to precisely match the real aircraft’s complex linkages and mechanisms. The visual fidelity offered by X-Plane’s PBR-capable graphics engine allows for stunning material characteristics and dynamic reflections, with every concave and convex surface, and every bump map lending its shape and surface characteristics to the reflection in real-time.”

Dreamfoil Creations EMB-110 due for X-Plane 11 compatibility update

The EMB-110 Bandeirante is the smallest aircraft produced by Brazilian aerospace company Embraer. The oldest Embraer also features in X-Plane, developed by Dreamfoil Creations for X-Plane 10.40. The aircraft has long seemingly been neglected, however in the last week, Dreamfoil have revealed that an XP11 port is on final.

In a post on Facebook, they have outlined some of the new XP11 exclusive features;

“Hello Guys. It's really getting close! The EMB110 for X-Plane 11 is on final development phase with a huge rework of 3D model, new 4k textures, improved systems and flight model accuracy.”

Gatwick v2 previewed by PilotPlus

The team over at PilotPlus have shown off some of the finer details of version 2 of their EGKK Gatwick scenery.

The update is reportedly “on final” and is due for release at the end of the week. The update features a redone Pier 1 and new PBR ground textures.

“EGKK V2.0 is on final! Enjoy some PBR ground previews, and expect a release at the end of this week!”
