AOA Simulations Confirms T-7A Vulkan Compatibility

January 20, 2020

AOA Simulations, the joint-venture between Fabrice Kauffmann and David Austin, has announced via a Facebook post that a confirmation has been received from Laminar Research that the Boeing T-7 Red Hawk will be fully compatible with X-Plane 11.50.

The upcoming X-Plane update will feature a Vulkan and Metal engine and is expected to increase performance with VRAM optimization. Further information here.

The T-7 is the future advanced trainer built for the US Air Force by Boeing and Saab and is being developed to replace the ageing T-38 Talon.

Many of the screenshots in this article are sourced from another Facebook post today, where the developer briefly covered some numbers regarding the thrust-weight ratio of the aircraft.

“Great news! Someone at Laminar confirmed that the T-7A works perfectly under XP 11.50 with Vulkan,” wrote AOA Simulations.

Of particular interest, is AOA's timeframe for a public beta of X-Plane 11.50: “Those guys are hard at work rewriting the VRAM management logic in order to fix the numerous blurry textures problems reported by the first beta testers. So don't expect a public beta soon.”

How long "soon" entails to is hard to judge, but based on the developer's wording, it could still be several weeks or months away.

Furthermore, AOA Simulations recently announced an update for their V-22 Osprey, an aircraft caught up within internal issues within the team.

AOA Simulations' Facebook page contains further screenshots of the aircraft.
