Gaya Simulations have released new previews on their Facebook page of their latest project, Berlin-Tegel, for X-Plane 11 and for the upcoming Microsoft Flight Simulator.

The pictures published show Terminal C which was opened in 2007 and has a capacity of 2.5 million travellers per year as well as some buildings such as hangars and the control tower. Also included are some previews of the airport's night lighting. The airport’s cold-war era style will be noticeable in the final product. The MSFS version will seamlessly integrate with the simulator’s high-quality version of Berlin City.

Berlin-Tegel is a large airport located in Germany. After WW2, Berlin was split into two parts. One was the GDR and the second the FRG they would, later on, be separated by the famous Berlin Wall. The airport played a key role in Berlin’s airlift, an operation conducted by the United States and its allies to keep West Berliners alive. The operation lasted 90 days and counted over 300,000 flights.

Berlin-Tegel is one of two currently used airports in Berlin. The second airport which is still in use is “Schönefeld”. A third airport has been in construction since 2006 with an opening expected for October this year, causing to closure of the two older airports once Berlin-Brandenburg opens.  Unfortunately, due to the current situation, the airport’s closure has been advanced.

Even though no release date was announced, we will keep you updated on the progress made on the add-on.
