IVAO have announced that their new client software and beta connect software will be rolling out to the public before the end of this year. A keynote stream will go live on December 21st at 1830z for the new ATC Client, and December 22nd at 1830z for the new Pilot Client and Connector. Once a keynote ends, the software it demonstrated will become publicly available, with the host of the stream providing the download links. These live keynotes will be conducted through IVAO’s YouTube channel, which can be found here. They also say not to worry if you miss a stream, as it will be replayable.

The first client that will be released is the IVAO ATC Client, dubbed Aurora. IVAO says that over the past four months they’ve been hard at work coding, conducting alpha testing, and preparing ATC divisions from across the globe with new sector files. They also say many of their division members are real controllers and some were able to grab the following comparisons.

Jakarta's real atc sector (left), versus IVAO's new client sector (right)

It should also be known that the ATC Client software and all sector files are stored on IVAO’s servers, meaning members don’t need to worry about updating sector AIRACs as it will all be done automatically.

The next release will be the IVAO Pilot Client, named Altitude.

Here’s a list of changes that IVAO says will come with the new pilot client:

  • The Pilot Client is now a standalone interface that runs independently from the simulator
  • Added built in Auto-UNICOM
  • Can enable dual text reception (RX) on two different frequencies
  • Implemented enhanced datalink ATIS, can manage ATIS in separate window
  • Added  the highly anticipated cockpit sharing feature
  • Now 64 bit compatible and ready for 4K screens

The last item to be released will be in its beta phase, and is the IVAO Connector. Named Artifice, and previously known as IvAi, it allows air traffic controllers to have a realistic tower view while controlling. IVAO says the beta release of the connector is very important, as it will expand their testing to a much bigger group. While they say it’s been stable in alpha testing, users should be ready to expect bugs or software crashes. Members will be able to report these issues in new software support boards over on IVAO’s community forum.

Members will also be able to provide feedback and suggest new features as to how IVAO can improve, with a dedicated team monitoring the forums to collect feedback and suggestions.

That concludes IVAO’s announcement, make sure to stay tuned for the debut  streams next weekend. To view the original blog post on IVAO’s website, click here. To view our previous article about IVAO demonstrating their new flight plan client, click here.
