Microsoft Flight Simulator March 4th Development Update

March 5, 2021

Continuing their trend of weekly updates, Microsoft has once again taken to their forums to provide the community with an insight into the state of the simulator.

While this week’s update didn’t include many ground-breaking announcements, it was confirmed that Sim Update 3 and their monthly Live Dev Q&A will be happening next week.

As usual, a feedback snapshot was provided, a list that Asobo utilizes to keep the community updated on issues that the team is aware of for the simulator.

The SDK also received an update on both the DevMode and WASM sides. You can view the full changelog below.

On the DevMode side:

  • We fixed font-related issues in DevMode.
  • In the Scenery Editor, we fixed a bug that didn’t show object test radius when selected. We also added a button to remove material from polygons.
  • We also implemented the Delete key as a way to delete individual points on polygon-based objects (like painted lines, aprons, polygons etc.).

On the WASM side:

  • We fixed the execute_calculator_code proxy and added more security to it.

A roadmap was also provided, which extends all the way to April and gives us rough dates for future updates.

Lastly, a total of 17 products were added to the marketplace this week, along with four updates.

If you’d like to view the original announcement, you can do so via the Microsoft Flight Simulator Website.

Threshold will make sure to keep you updated on any future developments for the simulator, such as “Sim Update 3” which is set for release in early March.

Threshold encourages informed discussion and debate - though this can only happen if all commenters remain civil when voicing their opinions.
