Orbx Announces Development for Microsoft Flight Simulator

Following today's wealth of information regarding the forthcoming Microsoft Flight Simulator, Orbx has issued a carefully-worded statement from new CEO Anna Cicognani.

A new name to many, Cicognani introduced herself on the group's forum in today's post - "Just by way of intro, I have been Orbx’s CEO since September 2019, and I am based in Australia. I have not actively participated in the forums so far, limiting myself to reading the diverse and eclectic views of simmers and industry players, but the recent announcement of MS Flight Simulator launch calls for a view on where Orbx sits in all this, so I am breaking the ice."

"Firstly, at Orbx we are thrilled to see that the new MS Flight Simulator will launch in August. Like the rest of the community, we are very impressed with what we have seen so far in Microsoft's next gen of Flight Simulator."

"I am very happy to say that Orbx is producing content for FS"

She confirmed that Orbx will be moving away from it's exclusive platform on OrbxDirect, instead, for the first time in years, the company will also be selling through a third party: Microsoft's in-game marketplace.

Moving to address the other simulator platforms in their current repertoire, Cicognani was quick to assure customers that development of "high quality content" for X-Plane, Prepar3D and Aerofly FS2 will continue.

"We have some real gems in store, and of course we continue to support our partners and industry friends - specifically this month through #FlyJuly."

In closing, the new CEO hopes to see new users taking up simming in Microsoft Flight Simulator - in addition to current customers - while continuing to bring them 'AAA' content.

"Looking forward to expanding our (collective) horizons!", she says.

In reply to a customer's query, Cicognani affirms plans to bring 'some of our existing airports' to Microsoft Flight Simulator. "Just a question of time and how fast we can work, but you can bet we will have them there!"

It's still unclear whether Orbx's region-based sceneries such as the TrueEarth and FTX series will continue on the new simulator.
