FlyJSim wrapping up development on their Q4XP

With development coming to an end, FlyJSim has shared a community post showcasing some of the amazing features set to be included in their highly anticipated Q4XP. The post titled “Q4XP Coming Soon!” displayed the main features in the Exterior, Cabin, Cockpit and Systems.

Starting with the exterior model, the team made an honourable mention of the “aged Q400 legacy model”, noting its relatively worthwhile quality even in current standards, but the team decided to rebuild the model from the ground up. Paired with the accurate model they have also taken advantage of X-Plane 11’s lighting model, using plenty of 4k textures to fill in a lot of details.

Valdudes has painstakingly textured the entire model to include the million and one rivets on the tail, along with a shiny new APU exhaust. The textures don’t just look spectacular during the day, it’s night time where it really shines, with custom made exterior lighting, bringing the whole exterior model to life. The team has taken great pride in the prominent quality of the Q400 series aircraft, namely, the exit doors - where each nook and cranny of the mechanism is modelled and animated to make that experience that much more immersive. Moving onto the ground scene; chocks, cones and other items would appear when the aircraft is parked on the ramp. The aircraft will also come standard with 10 liveries painted by their talented painting team.

Entering inside the cabin, FlyJSim has modelled a complete interior with 78 seats and animated overhead bins for each row. The team has incorporated cabin controls through a new Flight Attendant control panel, enabling you to adjust the cabin lighting as well as temperature settings. Both Cargo bays are modelled with the forward one having an entry door from the cabin or exterior. Needless to say, the rear cargo bay has received the same level of attention to detail; Valdudes has gone an extra mile as he has included realistic damaged walls and scratches across the compartment.

As one walks to the flight deck, this will be where the aircraft shines as FlyJSim has given it the attention that it deserves. The cockpit has been modelled with the most accurate dimensions information available. Each of the EFIS displays will have real fonts and a true to life colour palette. With the Q400 Legacy only including a few lighting options,  FlyJSim has upped their game and included all the lighting options. “Everything from dome to storm and pane lighting, to reading lights, to map lights, to ice detection lights, and even breaker lights.” To top off the cockpit all 360 circuit breakers are included, each featuring readable text to help pilots diagnose problems.

The final set of previews are the systems included in the Q4XP. FlyJSim has taken into consideration each battery, bus, bus connector, transformer, generator, and other electrical components when creating their electrical systems. Using a similar system for hydraulics, “naturally, the entire flight control system is faithfully and accurately modelled in the Q4XP.” The pitch and roll disconnects are fully functional and the side of the cockpit you are flying from will change which yoke you are using. Being a propeller-driven aircraft the Q4XP has its own exclusive power management system. The team have included a screen visualization that appears on the bottom right of your screen to show you the positions of your engine and propeller levers. With an ARCDU radio system that the Q400 uses, it has been fully simulated to include dual and separate control of the interfaces. Finally the most important component, the FMS. The team have done a great job of modelling, texturing and animating the unique UNS-1Ew. With a significant amount of development going into the FMS, it is safe to say that their UNS-1Ew has all the bells and whistles.

The team ended the post with the following statement “We are excited to be entering the final phase of development and look very much to having all of our fans enjoy a new flight sim experience.
