Rotate Drops MD-11 Teaser

After much speculation and silence, X-Plane.org has dropped a video on their Youtube Channel of Rotate’s highly awaited McDonnell Douglas MD-11for X-Plane 11.

After being confirmed that the aircraft had entered beta back in October, this “early look” video showcases all of the high points of both the interior and exterior modeling, alongside a close look at the instruments and screens, and other aspects of the freighter aircraft.

Starting off, the video shows the main left wing and tail engine/tail of the aircraft, in great detail, users are welcomed to the familiar texture work of Rotate through their previous MD-80 release. The segment looks over the flaps, slats, and the 3rd engine that the aircraft is known for. The video then cuts to the flight deck, where it pans around behind the Captain’s and First Officers seats, giving a brief overlook at the flight deck of the aircraft.  We then get a brief look at both the Captain’s Yoke, and the overhead panel, being fully lit. After that, it cuts to the exterior of the MD-11 demonstrating the intricate detailing and animation of the operable exterior cargo door while also having a quick glance at the cargo hold of the freighter aircraft.

Moving on, the video then shows off a close up of one of the engines, highlighting more of the texture and modeling work that Rotate has done on the engines. Back into the cockpit, viewers can see the level of detail that has been put into the aircraft, with finger prints on the navigation display screen. Viewers then get to see the flight deck being fully lit at night, with all panel and screen brightness fully on. Whilst being outside aircraft, the video shows that all Anti-Collision, Nav, Strobe, and Landing Lights are fully operable.

Rotate has not specified any release date or price for the aircraft as of late, but the video is indicative that the developers are beginning to see the tunnel exit. For those that are interested in products by Rotate, you can check out their MD-80 on the .Org Store, which sells for $59.95.
