Orbx Launches TrueEarth GB South Service Pack 1 with 344 New Models

Scenery developerment group Orbx have released the much awaited first service pack to their TrueEarth Great Britain South package for X-Plane 11. The update features upwards of 300 new POI (point of interest) models, many with new PBR integration.

PBR integration in Service Pack 1.

CEO John Venema said in a post last week that the 344 new models in SP1 were mainly churches, large estates, bridges and any major football stadium with over 7,500 seats.

We previously reported on the announcement of SP1 last week, so for the full change-log, see that article. We've also attached a shortened list below:

  • Removed buildings from airports (as long as they have a boundary set in X-Plane)
  • Added Ambient Occlusion (AO) ground and wall effects to autogen
  • Updated autogen to PBR
  • Upgraded tree placement algorithm (forests are now even more accurate)
  • Updates to autogen placement, fixed reported building rotation bugs
  • Made the roads darker to better match the ortho, and these are now enabled by default
  • Added supermarkets (Sainsbury's, Lidl, Morrisons, ASDA and IKEA)
  • Added fast food outlets
  • Numerous small bug fixes with object placements
  • Some optimisation to London buildings to improve performance

You can purchase TrueEarth Great Britain South for $54.95 AUD from Orbx Direct - or check out our review of the scenery here.
