Orbx Releases McKinnon St. Simons Island Airport for MSFS 2024
Orbx has recently released their rendition of McKinnon St. Simons Island Airport (KSSI) for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, serving Brunswick, Georgia, with an average of 43,070 aircraft operations per year.
It opened in early 1938, after three years of construction work. Its infrastructure and strategic location were made useful by the US Navy, becoming Naval Air Station St. Simons Island.

It remained an active air station for a few years after the war, before its activities were merged into NAS Glynco, ultimately leading to its closure as a naval air station and its return as a civil airport.

Back in the day, the airport saw some commercial activity from Delta (1945-1960s) and Eastern Airlines (1945-1964), but it has since become a general aviation airport.

The scenery features an accurate rendition of the airport, with custom ground textures, ultra-high definition PBR texturing, seamless photogrammetry integration, custom night lighting, photorealistic HD textures, and more.

It’s available on OrbxDirect for roughly $19.18, requiring at least 2.99 GB of free hard disk space to install.
