DominicDesignTeam Releases Indianapolis International Airport for X-Plane 12

DominicDesignTeam have released their rendition of Indianapolis International Airport (KIND) for X-Plane 12. Located just 7 miles from downtown Indianapolis, it is the largest airport in Indiana, serving the city of Indianapolis, with over 10 million passenger operations in the last year.

Opened in 1931, it replaced Stout Field as the main airport serving Indianapolis. In 1944, it was renamed to Weir Cook Municipal Airport in honour of Harvey Weir Cook, a World War I flying ace. The airport was also one of the stops on the first transcontinental air service between Los Angeles and New York, operated by Transcontinental Air Transport, which later became the iconic TWA.

In 1961, the first jet aircraft to touch down at KIND was a TWA Convair 880, which was later followed by a Boeing B707. During the late 1980s, the airport also became a hub for USAir (which later became US Airways), ATA Airways, and FedEx, which made Indianapolis their second-largest hub, after Memphis.

Today, Indianapolis Intl’ Airport is served by 14 passenger airlines to over 50 destinations, including 6 international destinations, with five of them being seasonal service to popular tourist destinations in Mexico, Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic, and by 5 cargo airlines, to over 60 destinations, mostly in USA.

The DominicDesignTeam’s rendition of KIND features custom made terminal, FBO and surrounding buildings, custom mesh and ground clutter, taxi signs, 3D grass, dynamic lighting, as well as support for WorldTraffic 3 and Traffic Global routes.

The scenery is available for purchase on the X-Plane.org store for $19.99, and requires at least 1.4GB of free disk space.
