Chudoba Design Releases Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport

For those yearning for a free airport in Sri Lanka, Chudoba Design has recently answered your call with a rendition of Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport for X-Plane, the airport is offered for free on their website. Developed in a sprint a couple of months ago, it was an attempt by the developer himself to experiment the outcome of airport sceneries if they were to be modelled within 24 hours, in that 24 hours the developer has managed to complete the terminal complex, the rest is completed by the rest of the team under Chudoba Designs.

The scenery comes well equipped and well put together with custom buildings including the detailed terminal building, handcrafted PBR textures, and accurate HDR lighting. On the soft product side, Chudoba highlights that the scenery also provides a detailed English manual and a responsive support team.

The real airport is situated in Sri Lanka, Forbes describes the airport as “The World’s Emptiest International Airport” due to its size and low traffic. In a fortunate turn of events for the airport, the traffic increased during the Covid-19 pandemic. It is an otherwise small complex with the terminal containing twelve check-in counters and two gates with jetways. Despite its normally low passenger numbers, the airport is equipped with facilities able to handle an Airbus A380.

The developers have previously released other international airports, such as Václav Havel Airport Prague, Marsa Alam Int. Airport, and Hurghada Int. Airport. However, this release is the first freeware release for the X-Plane platform. To download the airport, head over to the team's product page.
