Following their recent reveal of X-Plane 12, Laminar Research have intermittently posted several new screenshots of the new simulator on their social media platforms over the course of this month so far. Bit by bit, each screenshot features specific areas of the new simulator allowing us to piece together the full picture.. Below, we’ve conveniently gathered all the images posted on Twitter and an X-Plane.org forum thread, each image contains a description of said picture. X-Plane 12 is largely an evolutionary step up from v11 and will introduce a brand new lighting model, reworked atmospherics, weather updates as well as new default aircraft such as the A330-300 amongst several other new light aircraft.

X-Plane tweeted a teaser of the new R22 Helicopter on October 13th of this year, confirming that this helicopter is a new addition to the default lineup The R22, made by Robinson, leads in the Civil Helicopter Training, it is the Cessna 152 of the helicopter work. The Mariner version, teased in the image above, is no longer being manufactured, though.

In that same post, another image shows the helicopter floating in an abyss of turquoise water, with a foredrop demonstrating the new simulator’s upgraded vegetation and marine environment, which can be seen above. You can also see that the new default water will bring 3d waves and varied coloring, a significant makeover from the original still water.

Also stated at FSExpo San Diego, X-Plane 12 will include new default volumetric clouds, which can be seen above. With volumetric clouds, it was also said that there will be smooth weather changes unlike the current generation of weather.

Continuing the theme of clouds, this next teaser showcases the brand new A330-300 that will be part of the default aircraft line-up, teased earlier this year, with a fleet preview on their Youtube, the team Tweeted this image on October 21st, baring all on the A330, volumetric clouds, and rain reflections on the airport surfaces as well as new rain droplets on windows, building upon the free plugin Librain.

And for the latest image, Laminar Research teased a preliminary cloud implementation in X-Plane 12. The clouds arguably look very similar to Enhanced Skyscapes by BiologicalNanobot for X-Plane 11 (though with more definition). It also seems that a new default aircraft has been teased, the Alia-250c by BETA.

That’s it so far from Laminar’s teasers that have been shared so far! Be sure to look at X-Plane Official’s Twitter to see the latest of X-Plane 12, we’ll be sure to talk about it here.
