After the release of Shanghai Pudong at the end of March, AMJ Scenery Studios have released the partnered scenery, Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport for X-Plane. Complementing their earlier release of Pudong and the Shanghai skyline, users are now able to have a solid replica of the Chinese financial capital. In real life, both Hongqiao and Pudong work together to provide Shanghai with a strong aviation hub for China.  Shanghai Hongqiao Airport is situated near the town of Hongqiao in the Changning District. Being only 13 kilometres west of downtown Shanghai, it is closer to the city centre than Pudong Airport, Shanghai’s main international gateway.

Serving mainly as a domestic airport, Hongqiao is a key hub for Chinese carriers such as Juneyao Airlines, Shanghai Airlines, China Eastern Airlines, and Spring Airlines. These airlines primarily use Hongqiao Airport as a major regional hub to connect travellers across China and neighbouring countries.

Despite Hongqiao’s secondary nature, AMJ has put relentless effort to deliver an excellent recreation in Microsoft Flight Simulator. Features wise, AMJ Scenery Studios have included a modelled interior, the utilisation of SAM (adding Animated Jetways) and 3D grass, all these features work together to provide an accurate rendition of Hongqiao International Airport.
