Canada4XPlane Issues Vancouver, Hamilton Status Updates

North American scenery developer Canada4XPlane has today provided customers with a status update regarding their two next airports - Vancouver (CYVR) and Hamilton (CYHM).

Vancouver was first undertaken in late 2018 as purely a VFR scenery, though following a break to focus on other projects including freeware Calgary and Edmonton renditions, the developer has decided to take on Vancouver's airport as well, this to be his fourth payware scenery after St. Johns, Quebec City and the new Hamilton scenery covered later.

Head developer Patrick Putlend says of the two Vancouver projects: "YVR downtown has been in development for about a year. The freeware package of downtown Vancouver as well as the seaport and Harbor Air terminal have been completed. Modelling of the lions gate bridge is finished as well. The Vancouver VFR/downtown scenery will be freeware."

"CYVR - Vancouver international is still under development. The northeastern corner has been complete. We will not release any teaser shots until most of the airport is complete. We are expecting a release date around June or July 2020. The project will be payware due to the hundreds of hours already poured into the project. Expected price will cost 29.99 USD."

The feature list for Vancouver has also been revealed, containing the following items:

  • 100+ Custom buildings
  • 100+ Custom Objects
  • HD ground textures
  • HD Orthophoto imagery
  • HD taxilines and ground details
  • 3D volumetric grass
  • Extremely accurate models and buildings
  • Ground ambient occlusion
  • Extremely detailed parking lots
  • Dynamic lighting
  • Optional winter textures
  • Custom autogate + sound (SAM)
  • WT3 Compatibility (Freeware Add-on)
  • Optional static aircraft package (Freeware Add-on)

Though before their next big ticket scenery, the Canadian developer has another, smaller airport to release first: Hamilton (CYHM). Located south of Toronto, Hamilton's John C. Munro Airport pales in comparison to CYVR, seeing just under 1,000,000 passengers last year.

Planned to release in mid-April 2020, Canada4XPlane's Hamilton will utilise the following features:

  • 20+ Custom buildings
  • 70+ Custom Objects
  • HD ground textures
  • HD taxilines and ground details
  • 3D volumetric grass
  • Ground ambient occlusion
  • Extremely detailed parking lots
  • Dynamic lighting
  • Optional winter textures
  • Custom autogate + sound
  • WT3 Compatibility (Freeware Add-on)
  • Optional static aircraft package (Freeware Add-on)

Hamilton will be a payware scenery, though no price has been confirmed at this time.

In a post on Twitter earlier today, the developer confirmed that all purchasers of Quebec City Airport in the month of March will receive and entry to a giveaway offering a free copy of the new Hamilton scenery. See the post for full details.
