Boundless Unbounds Dublin Airport Development for X-Plane

On a blog post in their website, Boundless has let slip that they are hopping over to neighbouring Ireland to develop a rendition of Dublin Airport for X-Plane, offering a couple of screenshots showcasing the control tower. This next release follows the recent publication of Gloucester Airport around a month ago.

The real airport handles over 30 million passengers every year (pre covid times), and is one of the largest airports in Europe. For Boundless’ scenery, users can expect a plethora of “exciting features” which the team will reserve from unveiling for a later date. The scenery will cover the airport and the area around the vicinity of the airfield; farms, houses and buildings are custom modelled to deliver an immersive experience, one that tops any other rendition of Dublin, the team claims.

On the state of the project; the team updates that the western half of the airport is essentially complete, with the airport layout still being worked on; main aprons, runways and landside area seeing strong progress. As this is a newly developed rendition of Dublin Airport, the team advertises that it will reflect the latest changes to the airport, such as the inclusion of the new Northern runway (which existing Dublin scenery, in X-Plane at least, hasn’t included it). The scenery will come decorated with the usual Boundless-quality textures and modelling, all hand placed on high resolution satellite imagery which was sourced only 4 months ago.

A release date has not been disclosed as of yet, but the team is hopeful that they’ll be able to pinpoint that down publicly, relatively soon. In line with most of their other offerings in their scenery catalogue, Boundless proudly confirms that the release will be priced lower than other scenery products of the same size to ensure that the purchase is accessible to as many people as possible.
