Xometry Releases Victorville Airport for X-Plane 11

Xometry's first product for X-Plane is now out in the form of a Victoville Airport recreation! Launched by developer Capnchris, the team's first release comes well equipped with modern features you'll come to expect in a scenery product for X-Plane 11. Announced a few weeks back which we've covered.

On the ground, high resolution ground work are assembled with colour corrected high-resolution orthoimagery, accurately placed ground markings and detailed textures featuring weathered pavement, tar, cracks and stains. 3D wise, custom detailed buildings and handplaced realistic vegetation such as grass, bushes and trees populate the area. Populating the area is over 150 accurately placed static aircraft and custom objects, with custom modelled aircraft wrecks and disassembled aircraft parts scarrered throughout. The product features PBR textures airport wide, and sees active ground movement with implemented Ground Traffic. At night, custom taxilights and lighting illuminate the facility.

Finally, users are able to switched between two periods of the airport, pre-covid and post-covid.

The real airport is called Victorville Southern California Logistics Airport, and spans around 2,300 acres of land in the Southern Californian desert. It plays a notable role as a major host for long-term storage for aircraft, the COVID-19 raised its profile in the media as images depicting hundreds of birds parked idle in rows were shared around near the beginning of last year. At the peak of the world's lockdown, the airport is storing over half a thousand aircraft within its premises.
