Originally released as payware by UK2000 for XP11, this refreshed version brings Aberdeen International into the modern XP12 ecosystem, completely for free. With contributions from several other community members, the scenery combines elements from the original payware, with various updates, new assets, and features of the new XP12 platform.

Aberdeen International Airport sits about 5 nautical miles northwest of Aberdeen city centre. It serves as a hub for regional carriers Eastern Airways and Loganair, and is a crucial gateway for North Sea oil and gas operations. In 2023, the airport handled 2.3 million passengers. It hosts fixed-wing and helicopter terminals, including facilities for Bristow, CHC, NHV and Babcock.

Scottish Wings’ recreation of the airport includes a full complement of assets, featuring a custom terminal building, various hangars, including the helicopter base of Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance, and a detailed Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting facility. It also incorporates static aircraft, as well as various library assets such as MisterX, CDB, and OpenSceneryX. The scenery also uses the openSAM plugin to provide animated guidance systems and marshallers at stands across the apron.

Furthermore, Scottish Wings offers several optional downloads for additional detail, including animated ground crews, local landmarks, and even offshore oil rigs. A version with no static aircraft is also available.

EGPD Aberdeen Dyce by Scottish Wings is available for free via the X-Plane.org forum.
