No Money Mondays: B2 Volume Control
January 28, 2026
Freeflight
Having first released in 2018, B2VolumeControl is an incredibly useful freeware plugin and a staple addon for many people in X-Plane 11 and 12. This plugin allows you to quickly change all the volume settings in the simulator (master, exterior, interior, copilot, radio, radio, environment, and ui), without needing to go to the settings to change it. Although a relatively simple plugin, the quality of life improvement if offers is unsurmountable, as being able to quickly control audio settings simply by dragging your mouse to the top right of the screen is incredibly useful, as needing to go to the simulator menu to change volume, otherwise, can get annoying quickly.
The freeware addon offers various features including automatically hiding when not in use, autoloading preferences from different aircraft, saving preferences, being able to move the widget anywhere on your screen (default position is top right), and lastly, separate volume for exterior and interior views (especially helpful since exterior sounds in flight simulators are often unbearably loud).

In general, this is not a plugin that is going to make or break your experience in X-Plane, however, it offers a nice quality of life upgrade to the simulator, and if you’re someone who finds it annoying constantly having to go to the menu of the simulator to change the volume levels, then you will surely find this plugin helpful. It is evident that a plethora of people have found this addon helpful as well, as the plugin has a staggering 18000 downloads, showing just how nice of an upgrade this is.
To download this simple yet effective plugin, head on over to the X-Plane.org Forums, the download size is only around 7kB, so it certainly does not hurt to install it and try it out. Make sure to check out Threshold’s other No Money Monday’s on our website, and tune in every week to potentially discover another freeware addon you have not heard of.
