No Money Mondays: Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden Airport V2 by AeroX Simulations

Another week, another No Money Monday! This time, we turn our attention to Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden Airport, also known as Baden Airpark, in a stunning freeware rendition by AeroX Simulations for XP12.
Located in southwestern Germany near the Rhine and the Black Forest, this former Canadian military airbase now serves a mix of commercial, charter, cargo, and general aviation traffic.

Every major structure is custom modelled, including the terminal, control tower, hangars, and even the elevated observation platform next to the P4 parking area. A wide array of static assets, like parked cars, aircraft, and various ground equipment, is also implemented. Ground textures have been hand-crafted to avoid visible tiling, and 3D crowd models provide a sense of life and activity.

The airport itself ranks 17th in Germany by passenger numbers and is home to a Ryanair base, while also hosting airlines like Wizz Air, Eurowings and TUI. Karlsruhe also sees daily freight operations, and serves as a maintenance and rescue base for DRF Luftrettung. The on-site German-Canadian aviation museum adds yet another unique point of interest, and AeroX even modelled the nearby farm-equipment factory of RAUCH.

Whether you are flying commercially, hopping between small airfields along the Rhine, or visiting nearby cities like Karlsruhe and Baden-Baden, Baden Airpark has a lot to offer any simmer out there. The airport is also regularly staffed on VATSIM.

AeroX Simulations' Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden V2 is a great showcase of what can be achieved in high-quality, freeware scenery, and it is available for download on the X-Plane forums.
