It’s Monday, and time for another instalment of No Money Mondays! This week, we take a trip to The Big Apple, specifically LaGuardia Airport, which has been beautifully recreated in Microsoft Flight Simulator by Danielsjam.

Located on the northern shore of Long Island, LaGuardia Airport is one of the three primary airports serving New York City. The airport opened in late 1939, making it 85 years old. Since its opening, the airport has undergone many changes and developments.

The airport recently underwent a significant renovation that was completed at the beginning of this year. It ranks as the 19th largest airport in the United States by passenger volume, accommodating approximately 30 million passengers each year, with Delta Air Lines being the largest carrier operating at the airport.

I was really impressed by the virtual rendition created by Danielsjam, especially considering that it's freeware! Although the developer states that it is not an exact replica, I found it to be very detailed, and it definitely met my expectations. The rendition features the updated taxiway network and includes all the buildings you would expect, except for a few old hangars. It is in a different league than the default airport!

Scenery like this is a testament to the wonderful flight simulator community! If you’re looking to explore New York from the virtual skies, look no further!

The scenery is available on Flightsim.to and is compatible with both MSFS 2020 and 2024.
