No Money Mondays: The Scrapyard Monster

June 19, 2023

When it comes to flight simulation, we often expect pristine aircraft along with their meticulously recreated designs. However, a new creation known as the ‘Scrapyard Monster’ has shattered the Mold of conventional aircraft designs. This Bushcraft, developed by Lord Frites, looks like it has been plucked straight out of the post-apocalyptic world of Mad-Max and injects it into the immersive world of Microsoft Flight Simulator.

Beneath its patchwork exterior, the Scrapyard Monster contains a Cosworth/Aston Martin V12 engine which generates over 1000 horsepower. This powerful engine, when combined with the rest of this aircraft, transforms it into a perfectly capable bush plane. It defies expectations with its ability to execute slow and low flights along with taking off and landing on runways which would be laughable for any ordinary aircraft. Don’t let this aircraft fool you, it can reach speeds over 200 knots, climb like a rocket, and achieve a maximum ceiling altitude of a whopping 37,000 feet.

Born in January 2022 from the imaginative mind of Lord Frites, this aircraft is the first product released under the name ‘Flying Fries’. Its remarkable specifications match its outlandish appearance, boasting 1160 horsepower, up to 2700 N.m of torque, and a total empty weight of 830 kgs / 1830 lbs with a cruising speed ranging between 50 to 220 knots and a maximum speed of 250 knots.

The Scrapyard Monster is a feature-packed product that clearly showcases Lord Frites’ attention to detail and innovation. The combination of high-resolution textures, navigation aids such as dual VOR/ILS navigation, and a range of customisable lights make this an impressively detailed model. Those of you who are tech-savvy will be pleased to hear that there is even a Garmin touchscreen tablet that is included.

The aircraft comes with two liveries, each containing references and easter eggs for the eagle-eyed among you. Flight simmers will find themselves discovering new details on each flight.
