No Money Mondays: The Rise of Smaug

For this week's No Money Monday we’ll be looking at a new, and quite honestly very impressive, bush plane that was released on flightsim.to.  This new plane comes from Flyndive who is one of the brains behind popular model-matching add-on M3. Those who have spent any time watching aviation YouTube videos will likely be able to pick out the inspiration for the add-on and I think it’s been a very long time coming.

The addon I’m speaking of is of course Smaug! The inspiration for Smaug carries some inspiration from Mike Patey’s famed home-built Wilga known as Draco. Smaug packs a Pratt and Whitney PT6A turboprop that pushes an astonishing 867 sHP, a full carbon fiber fuselage, and a custom main wing that’s designed to allow for better control at low speeds.

Currently, Smaug has a cockpit panel based on the C152 that includes a PMS50 GTN 750 GPS panel. Speaking to Flyndive he said that the focus moving forward is going to be on refining the interior of the aircraft as well as working on a panel option that doesn't include the GTN-750. He also mentioned a few minor fixes to get the GTN-750 panel working a bit more effectively.

I've taken Smaug out on a few flights and while it's already a fantastic aircraft there's also loads of potential for the future. As a huge fan of bush flying in MSFS and a fan of Mike Patey's, Smaug has been a very welcome addition to MSFS.
